Last Saturday saw us working in the fantastic setting which is Littlecote House in Hungerford. It’s a Warners Hotel which caters for an adults only audience and The Fortunes tend to do very well in these places. After a great show, we travelled home for just a few hours sleep before going to Birmingham Airport for the ‘red eye’ flight to Schipol Airport in Holland. We were met there by an old friend of many years…..Desiree, who chauffeured us on a journey of over two hours to the first of two shows at Bobbejaanland in Lichtaart, which had changed it’s name for the weekend to ‘Yesterdayland’. It was a festival given over to the 60’s – 70’s – 80’s and we shared the bill with many other artistes from those decades. The Troggs, The Rubettes, Bony M, Tony Christie, and Johnny Logan. Even Father Abraham made an appearance!
We then raced on to the Vostertfeesten in Bree, where we appeared with The Swinging Blue Jeans, Chris Andrews, Mike Pender’s Searchers, The Trems, The Equals, Dave Berry and Toni Macaroni and The Swinging Devils! Needless to say, we were pretty tired by this time as we had been on our feet for over 18 hours. We finally got to bed around 2.30am, and woke again at 4.00am for the drive back to Schipol to catch the 8.25am flight back to Birmingham. It’s a couple of days after now, and I’m still knackered!!
