I’ve just agreed to two weeks in Australia in August next year. It’s a ‘suck it and see’ kind of thing to see how we get on. The Fortunes had four records in the top 100 in Australia with ‘Here it comes again’ and ‘You’ve got your troubles’ reaching number 1 and number 7 respectively.
We are really looking forward a great tour and meeting the lovely folk we met on ‘Rock the Boat in 2016!
Next year sees The Fortunes cruising the high seas again for ‘Rock The Boat’, and we are also in discussion with several agencies, regarding tours in Australia and The United States. There is also a very important event taking place on February 2nd of next year at The Elms Social and Services Club in Wigston in Leicester. It’s a memorial fund raising show for Rod and Baz in aid of Cancer Support, put together by ‘MLE Promotions’. We hope to see many of you there for what will be, a great night! In 1983 whilst working at a club on the outskirts of Coventry City, I was approached by Rod Allen and Barry Pritchard of ‘The Fortunes’, who asked me to join the band. Since Rod and Baz have both unfortunately passed away, I have now become the longest serving band member. Up to this point in time, I have been with the group for nearly 35 years!
In those years, I have travelled literally all around the world. Places I dreamed of as a child, are now etched into my brain indelibly. I have forged some great friendships with the other guys on the circuit, and it pains me to see so many of them retiring….or worse. Non the less, ‘The Show Must Go On!” and so it will. This coming October sees the band joining Mike Pender, Chris Farlowe, Mike d’Abo, Herman’s Hermits, and New Amen Corner on ‘The Sensational Sixties Tour’, which plays right through till the end of April.
